                                    Schoharie Valley Piecemakers Quilt Guild Minutes for April 8, 2025

The meeting was opened at 1:06 by Barb Haverly, president.

Members present: 23 Guests: 0

***Secretary’s report: The minutes for the March 11, 2025 meeting was emailed to the members. A motion was made by Emily D. to accept the minutes and was seconded by Sharon V. The motion was passed.

***Treasurer’s report: Ron Lower reported that the checking account balance is $2,606.20 after one check was written. A motion was made by Joan to accept the treasurer’s report and seconded by Kathy L. The motion was passed.

***Historian: nothing new to report per Stephanie.

***By-Laws: There wasn’t a meeting last month.

***Catskill Mountain HOF: Kathy L. reported nominations should be submitted by May 23rd. Items are needed for the SVP raƯle basket for the HOF summer picnic. Our theme will be chocolate. Please bring fabric in the colors of chocolate, chocolate food or beverage items to the May or June meeting.

***EQF: The next quilt show will be held on April 25th and 26th, 2026 at the Fulton Montgomery Community College in Johnstown, NY. The theme will be “Color Revolution”. The theme quilt’s maximum size is 42” square. Old Business:

**The” All New York Shop Hop” will be held May 1st- June 30th with 59 shops participating.

**Block of the Month: Dresden Plate-Ron and Sharon V. showed their blocks.

**SVP workshop will be held on May 17th, 10-2 and the options oƯered are Marriner’s Compass or NY Beauty or help on your own project. Betsy machine quilted a quilt that included photo transfers. She said the company the quilter used for the photo transfers was Spoonflower and she felt the fabric used and the work was well done. **Schoharie Library’s Quilt and Flower show: Volunteers needed to hang and display the quilts on June 4th at 1:00. The take down will be on June 24th at 1:00. On June 14th from 10-12, information will be shared about the care of antique quilts and appraisals to date a quilt. New Business:

**Roots, Rhythm and Ale community event will be held on Friday, August 1st from 5:00-9:00pm. Vendors are needed. We don’t have a raƯle quilt at the present time so there was no interest in having a table at the event. **Dutchess Heritage Quilt Show will be held at the Duchess County Fairgrounds, 6636 US 9, Rhinebeck on June 13th from 10-4 and the 14th from 10-3.

**Fall Festival at the Old Stone Fort will be held on October 4th. SVP may display quilts again this year. If we decide to show quilts we will have to rent racks. PDQ is participating and plans to have a Boutique.

**The nominating committee will have a slate of oƯicers for the May meeting.

**Name Tag Drawing: Kathy G.

**Bit of Betty: Betty demonstrated making roses with 6 strands of floss and ribbons.

**Program: Spring Fling, designing with pastels There were a large variety of quilted pieces shown by Betty, Ginny, Diane, Dolores, Kathy G, Kathy L, Betsy, Ron, Denise, Stephanie and Sharon V.

**Show and Tell: There were 33 quilts donated to Community Maternity Services of Schoharie County. It was a fun show and tell of quilts made for children, older kids and adults. There were several other projects shown. Stephanie took many pictures and posted them on the SVP website.

**Our next meeting is on May 13th and Ellen Adams will start our meeting with a trunk show.

**The meeting was adjourned at 3:00.
