Minutes for November 11, 2025
The meeting was opened by Diane Warner, SVP president, at 1:05 PM

REPORTS
Secretary Report: Approval of October 14, 2025 Minutes - A motion was made by Emily Davis to approve these; Joan Youman seconded. The motion was passed by members and there were two abstention.
Treasurer Report: Ron Lower, Treasurer, reported SVP balance from October was $2,486.20. $40 was deposited from members dues; check was written to St. Mark's church of $500, leaving a balance of $2,026.20. Barb Haverly motion to accept; Joan Youman seconded. All approved.
Historian Report: Kathy Livingston, historian, stated September & October SVP pictures are posted on website.
Sunshine Committee: Marlene Laraway sent cards out to all mentioned at last meeting.
Empire Quilt Fest (EQF) Representatives: Betsy Macomber stated nothing new but entries are coming in. Kathy Livingston stated that 14-15 vendors have committed so far for the upcoming EQF show in 2026. Kathy and Betsy, while attending the Quilter's Harvest Fest, saw show ribbons that they thought might be nice for the EQF show; Kathy had printed pictures for all to see. Kathy said a Vendor Ribbon Committee needs to be established to select the ribbon design and to have these assembled. Volunteers were Emily Davis, Nickie Relyea, and Ron Lower; and Kathy Livingston said she would sit on committee too. This group will pick the vendor ribbon design and then ask for volunteers to assemble them.
OLD BUSINESS:
Catskill Mountain Quilters Hall of Fame (CMQHOF): Sharon Vrooman stated that the CMQHOF group does not meet in the winter. Next meeting will be in May.
By-laws Committee: Emilie Wright went over changes for the SVP By-laws. Motion was made to accept by Emily Davis with the 11/4/2025 date. Kathy Livingston seconded.
Kathy Livingston printed up the SVP 2025-2026 programs and info (as handed out by Sharon Vrooman earlier) into a trifold pamphlet (yellow) which she then handed out to all members.
NEW BUSINESS:
Upcoming Quilt/Craft Shows: Nov. 22 St. Vincent dePaul Church, Cobleskill, Kathy Livingston stated a Christmas Boutique & Raffle. Can see Kathy now or come Nov. 22 to see items displayed. Kathy did showed members a winter quilt made & donated by Carol Bader, PDG member, (and machine quilted by Betsy Macomber) as one of the raffled items.
Dec. 6 - Greenville High School Holiday craft fair, Dec. 6 And Gloversville High School holiday craft fair, Nov 23.
I, Stephanie Liddle read a card from Faye Swing (PDG member) thanking the group as she won the lovely SVP basket at the CMQHOF picnic this past summer. Diane Warner also read a thank you card from the family of Sue Smith for SVP's donation in her name.
Kathy Livingston reminded members to please shop at the back table loaded with items donated by Lucy McKelvy's daughter. Her mother, a quilter and also member of the Peaceable Day Guild, had passed and Terry was cleaning out her Mom's quilt stash.
Diane Warner wanted a discussion of next month's meeting. Our December meeting is usually a buffet; everyone is asked to bring something to share. Please bring own place setting and drink; believe coffee will be available. Everyone unanimously agreed to soup, salad, and dessert! First agenda item will be to eat!
NAME TAG DRAWING: Ron Lower
PROGRAM: "Twist and Shout" Sharon Vrooman started discussion of twisted blocks and the variety of them. Diane Warner then gave a demo of how to make her "Twin Sister" block (as Diane is a twin). Members showed their twist & shout quilt items. Diane had a kid's quilt, laid out diagonally. Marlene and Betsy showed their twisted pinwheel. Ron showed his large twisted pinwheel quilt and his colorful twisted pinwheel quilt. Emily Davis explained and showed her seminole strip she had sewed, along with some selvage blocks she was also working on.
SHOW AND TELL:
Nickie Relyea - Small curved table runner made at Betsy's SVP workshop; 2 table runners, 2 hexie runners, Farm picture Block, and a large red threaded crochet filet project of a dragon!
Sharon Vrooman - Puffy Block, Funky chicken wallhanging, and her Color-By-Number quilt
Marlene Laraway - Kid's quilt with center farm panel.
Joan Youman - Small wall hanging of 9-patch blocks
