Schoharie Valley Piecemakers Quilt Guild Minutes for September 10, 2024
The meeting was opened at 1:04 by Barb Haverly, president.
Members present: 23 Guests: 1
***Secretary’s report:
The minutes for the June 11, 2024 meeting were emailed to the members. A motion was made to accept the minutes with a few corrections by Ginny Schaum and seconded by Joan Youmans. The motion was passed with the changes, 1 abstention noted.
***Treasurer’s report: Ron Lower reported the current account balance is $3,471.46 after a check for $137.54 was given to Barb Haverly for raffle basket items. A motion was made by Ruey Schell to accept the treasurer’s report and seconded by Sharon Vrooman. The motion was passed. Sharon Vrooman advised that the payment to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church of $500 for the next 10 month’s meetings is due. Ron will make the payment.
***Historian: Stephanie Liddle reported she has albums available at the meeting for all to see. ***By-Laws Committee: They didn’t meet over the summer.
***Program Committee: The theme is “Dangerous Curves Ahead” for the upcoming year. The BOM this year will each have pieced curves. A program for the next 10 months was given out to the members present.
Old Business: Catskill Mountain Quilter’s HOF: Betsy Macomber has raffle tickets available for the Majestic Mountain quilt on display at the meeting. Members in the ten guilds who are part of the HOF made 64 blocks for the quilt. Each guild has been asked to pick a charity and the raffle quilt proceeds will be split between those charities. A motion was made by Sharon Vrooman and seconded by Sharon Nesbitt to donate the money to the Joshua Project. The motion was approved. The show is on September 21st and 22nd from 10-4. The HOF will provide a list of qualifications for new inductees for 2025. SVP has 5 members in the HOF.
New Business: Bennington Quilt Show will be held on September 14th and 15th . Major’s Inn Quilt Show will be held on October 4th through the 6th . Quilt show at Proctors on October 5th Fall event at the Old Stone Fort on September 24th from 10-4

Show and Tell: Betsy- completed a quilt with her 2 color challenge colors of blue and white, two wall hangings of Alaska from an quilt shop she likes Marlene-an alphabet quilt and butterfly quilt from a Keepsake kit for her great grandchildren Ginny- quilt with pears and a floral border Betty- modeled a crazy quilt shawl she made Nicole- showed 3 landscape raw edge applique wall hangings Denise- a two color, blue and white quilt Sharon Vrooman-attended a workshop at another guild with two different mediums (neurographic art by Pavel Piskaren and a painting technique to make hydrangea flowers) Martha-made two rag quilts (one pastel and another with sock monkey fabric) and completed her two color block challenge quilt Diane-completed her two color block challenge quilt (black and white) Stefanie-showed her green and white, two color challenge quilt she completed Barb-showed her completed crayon color challenge quilt Ron- showed his two color challenge block quilt with a third color red lattice, also a multicolor wedding ring quilt made from “H” blocks Kathy L-showed her two color block challenge quilt in white and shades of orange Ruey- two table toppers in different colors
